Putin thanked North Korea: Your units helped liberate Kursk

Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Kim Jong Un on Wednesday for the courageous efforts of North Korean soldiers against Ukrainian forces.

“On your initiative, as is widely known, your special forces took part in the liberation of the Kursk region,” Putin said during a meeting with Kim in China. “Your soldiers fought courageously and heroically.”

North Korean troops helped Russia drive Ukrainian forces out of the western Kursk region earlier this year.

“I would like to emphasize that we will never forget the sacrifices made by your armed forces and the families of your soldiers,” Putin continued.

“On behalf of the Russian people, I thank you for your participation in the joint struggle,” Putin said. “I ask you to convey my sincere gratitude to the entire people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.”
