The US Immigration Service conducted a raid on a South Korean factory

On Thursday, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a raid at a Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution plant in Ellabell, Georgia, arresting 475 people, mostly of South Korean origin, who were allegedly working there illegally or had overstayed their visas.

This is the largest raid since Donald Trump took office.

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul expressed deep concern and a sense of responsibility for the detained citizens and is planning to hold serious talks in Washington if necessary.

Hyundai stated that none of the detainees were directly employed by the company and is working to review its suppliers and subcontractors. LG Energy Solution has declared its full cooperation with the authorities and has suspended the construction of a battery factory.

The raid was accompanied by strict coordination between federal authorities. The aim is to ensure compliance with the law and protect jobs for the local population.
