Lithuania teaches children and adults how to fly drones, with the aim of defending its borders
Lithuania has opened the first of nine planned schools specializing in drone operation—for both children aged 10 and above and adults. The project, launched by the Ministry of Defense, is part of a broader initiative to strengthen the defense of the country, which borders Russia and Belarus.
According to Deputy Defense Minister Tomas Godliauskas, the aim is to expand defense capabilities in the region. The school in Taurage, just 20 kilometers from Kaliningrad, teaches interested parties how to fly, program, and assemble various types of drones – from FPV to wing models.
The children train on simulators as well as with real equipment. The initiative comes after Russian drones entered Lithuania via Belarus in the summer.
