Erdogan draws attention to Gaza at UN meeting

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that his main message at the UN General Assembly would be criticism of Israel's military offensive in Gaza, which he described as a “massacre.” He added that recognition of Palestine by other countries could pave the way for a two-state solution.

Before traveling to New York, Erdogan announced that he would meet with US President Donald Trump, with talks focusing on trade relations and defense cooperation. The agenda also includes a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Assad and Foreign Minister Asad al-Shaybani.

Erdogan has long been a vocal critic of Israeli actions in Gaza and has called for greater involvement from the international community.
