Trump calls Muslim leaders together for talks on Gaza's future

US President Donald Trump is meeting with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The topic is post-war plans for Gaza.

Trump wants to present a proposal for the administration of Gaza without Hamas, request financial aid for reconstruction, and gain support for the deployment of troops to enable an Israeli withdrawal. Talks on the release of hostages and the end of military operations are also expected.

The US government hopes that regional powers will be willing to participate in a temporary stabilization of the situation in Gaza and contribute significantly to its reconstruction.

Meanwhile, several states have declared their support for the recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly – something the US and Israel reject and criticize as a dangerous reward for extremism.

Trump will also deliver a speech to world leaders today in which he plans to present his vision for peace and the renewal of the global order.
