Kremlin: We assume that Trump remains committed to working for peace

The Kremlin believes that US President Donald Trump remains committed to working for peace in Ukraine, even after the American leader suddenly changed his rhetoric in favor of Kyiv earlier this week.

Trump said on Tuesday after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he believed Kiev could regain all of its territory occupied by Russia – currently about one-fifth of the country – and that it should act now, as Moscow is facing economic problems.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that Moscow believes the Trump administration still has the political will to find a solution to the war and that Russia is ready to participate in peace negotiations.
