Trump honors murdered Kirk posthumously and declares day of remembrance

Donald Trump posthumously awarded conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead during a speech in Utah in September, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. The American president praised Kirk as a “martyr for American freedom.”

After his murder, the Trump administration launched a comprehensive investigation into left-wing organizations, involving the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Internal Revenue Service.

Numerous top Republicans attended the ceremony, including several senators and Vice President JD Vance. Trump also declared October 14, Kirk's 32nd birthday, “National Charlie Kirk Day.”

The deceased was the founder of the Turning Point USA movement and a defining figure of the American right.
