Israel resumes aid to Gaza, ceasefire threatened by dispute over bodies
600 trucks carrying humanitarian aid are entering the Gaza Strip, but according to the UN, this is not enough. Israel is also preparing to open the Rafah border crossing to civilians.
Hamas is continuing to hand over the bodies of Israeli hostages, but the Israeli authorities describe the process as too slow and are threatening to restrict aid or even resume fighting.
US President Donald Trump, who brokered the ceasefire, warned that Israel has his support for renewed military action if Hamas does not disarm. Part of the agreement also includes the return of the bodies of Palestinian victims, the first group of which Israel has already handed over.
The situation in Gaza remains critical—the majority of the population is homeless, the health care system is on the verge of collapse, and famine is rampant. Hamas is carrying out public executions of suspected collaborators, which both the US and the Palestinian leadership have criticized.
The ceasefire is threatened by several unresolved issues – from the disarmament of Hamas to the future administration of Gaza and the formation of international stabilization forces.
