EU member states agree on 19th package of sanctions against Russia
On Wednesday, the member states of the European Union agreed to adopt the 19th package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the war in Ukraine.
A written approval procedure was then initiated. If no objections are received by Thursday morning, the sanctions will be officially adopted at 8:00 a.m.
The package, which has been in preparation for several weeks, aims to limit Russia's energy revenues and impose sanctions on financial institutions and players in the cryptocurrency sector.
The adoption of the package was postponed several times because Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia initially expressed reservations, but ultimately agreed after political negotiations.
