The suspect in the attack on the train in London was not known to the security services

The man who attacked passengers with a knife on a train in east London on Saturday evening was not known to British counterterrorism and security authorities. Prosecutors have already charged the 32-year-old man with 11 counts of attempted murder.

Transport Minister Heidi Alexander said investigators had found no evidence that the man had been under surveillance or had links to extremist groups.

The attack left 11 people injured, including a member of the train crew who is in critical but stable condition in the hospital. Five of the injured have already been released from treatment.

The minister confirmed that police arrived at the scene within eight minutes of the first emergency call. A knife was found at the scene, and video footage showed that a member of the train crew had bravely attempted to stop the attacker.

The 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
