Grok published sexualized images of children

British authorities are demanding an explanation from Elon Musk-owned platform X after controversial outputs from AI chatbot Grok appeared on it. The latter was supposed to create sexualised images of children and exposed photos of people.

Grok itself admitted that there was a failure of safeguards, and depicted "minors in minimal clothing".

UK regulator Ofcom confirmed that it has contacted Platform X and the company xAI, and is investigating whether they are complying with their legal obligations to protect UK users. Grok says it is improving the protective filters.

In Britain, it is a criminal offence to distribute intimate and sexual photographs of children, including deepfake content. France has also expressed concern, reporting the incident to prosecutors and regulators.
