Hormuz Shipping Begins to Recover

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy corridors, is beginning to recover, according to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

The improvement comes despite continuing tensions between Iran and the United States and Israel. Following attacks earlier this year, shipping in the area was severely disrupted, affecting a route that handles around one-fifth of global oil and LNG supplies.

However, the recovery does not yet signal a return to normal conditions. Some vessels are reportedly taking additional security precautions, including sailing at night or switching off transponders.

The disruption has already driven up energy prices on global markets and fuelled concerns about wider economic consequences.

Wright warned that even after the conflict ends, it could take months for energy flows to return to previous levels. Washington is therefore continuing efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran that would ensure the strategic waterway remains fully open.
