Trump disappointed by Putin – announces measures
In a radio interview, US President Donald Trump expressed his “great disappointment” with Russian President Vladimir Putin and announced, without providing details, that he would take measures to reduce the number of deaths in the war in Ukraine.
After a summit meeting with Putin in Alaska and talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky and NATO representatives, Trump said he expected a direct meeting between Zelensky and Putin, followed by a trilateral meeting with himself. Zelensky accuses Russia of blocking such a meeting.
Trump promised Ukraine security guarantees and threatened Russia with further sanctions if there was no progress toward peace. He emphasized that territorial changes would have to be part of a solution—a position that Kyiv rejects, even though it concedes de facto territorial losses.
When asked about a possible alliance between China and Russia, Trump replied calmly: “I'm not concerned at all. We have the strongest military in the world.”
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Putin in Beijing. Trump commented sarcastically on Truth Social, sending “warm greetings” to Putin and North Korea's Kim Jong Un – “while you conspire against the US.”
