Slovak Prime Minister: I regret that the EU ignored the Chinese celebrations

The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, described it as a big mistake that the heads of state and government of the European Union member states ignored the official celebrations in China marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Asia.

He expressed concern about the lack of respect shown by Europe towards this important international event. “If anyone was isolated today (during the celebrations), it was the European Union,” he said.

Fico also pointed to the significant geopolitical shifts and China's growing influence in the global context. “Even China's greatest ideological opponents cannot overlook the multifaceted upswing that China has experienced,” he emphasized.

On the subject of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said that he would also discuss their content with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during bilateral talks in Uzhhorod.

He also highlighted that he had the opportunity to talk to more than ten heads of state from other countries about possible joint activities. He confirmed that he would visit Vietnam and announced that he would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
