Biden had malignant cells removed

Former US President Joe Biden recently underwent surgery to remove cancerous skin cells and is recovering well, according to NBC News, as reported by a spokesperson.

The procedure, known as Mohs surgery, is often used to treat the most common types of skin cancer.

The surgery came just months after Biden, 82, announced in May that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. His team described the disease as aggressive but hormone-sensitive, meaning it is likely to respond to treatment.

A spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the procedure on Thursday.
In 2023, during a routine examination while he was president, a skin lesion was removed and diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma.

Biden's physical and mental health were frequently discussed during his term in office. In July 2024, he unexpectedly ended his re-election campaign shortly after a weak debate performance against Donald Trump.
