Israel has presented a new proposal for an agreement on hostages and ending the war in Gaza

According to sources at The Times of Israel newspaper, the Israeli government has presented the parties involved in the peace negotiations in Gaza with a proposal for an agreement on the exchange of hostages and an end to the war. This proposal reportedly differs from the conditions previously stated publicly by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sources familiar with the offer report that Israel plans to initiate a six-month process to “end the war” and gradually release the hostages within 48 hours of the start of the ceasefire, at a ratio of 10 Hamas hostages for 130 Israeli prisoners.

According to the proposal, Hamas would begin disarming gradually. In the first phase, heavy weapons would be surrendered, followed later by light weapons.

The proposal does not address the position of the Palestinian Authority, but it does not reject it either, which is in line with Netanyahu's policy. According to the proposal, Israel would withdraw to a security zone around Gaza and reserve the right to military intervention for self-defense.

Mediators from Egypt and Qatar are still reviewing the proposal, while Netanyahu is also considering an alternative agreement from Washington.

The results of the negotiations and the conclusion of a ceasefire are expected shortly.
