Düsseldorf court sentences IS supporter to life imprisonment
A court in Düsseldorf has sentenced Issa al Hasan (27) to life imprisonment. Last year, he killed three people and seriously injured eight others at a city festival in Solingen, according to the newspaper Bild.
According to the verdict, he acted deliberately with the aim of killing as many people as possible.
Before the attack, he had purchased special knives and recorded a video for the terrorist organization Islamic State in which he threatened to dismember “infidels.”
At the scene of the crime, he attacked his victims from behind and stabbed them in the neck. During the attack, he shouted “Allahu Akbar.”
Al Hasan should have been deported a year before the crime, but the deportation was never carried out.
The court found him guilty of murder, attempted murder, and membership in a terrorist organization.
Although his IQ is estimated at 71, experts declared him fully culpable. The perpetrator showed remorse and accepted the verdict.
