King Charles once again on diplomatic mission – Trump to be appeased

The United Kingdom is preparing for the state visit of US President Donald Trump – in the hope that the royal family will help win the American president over to British causes.

The monarchy is relying on its traditional charm: lavish ceremonies, meetings with Prince William, and a state banquet are intended to give Trump a positive impression and make him feel favorably disposed toward Great Britain.

The president already expressed his enthusiasm in the recent exchange of letters between Trump and King Charles – a signal that the British government sees as an opportunity to influence the American stance on issues such as Ukraine and trade tariffs.

The royal family plays a key role in the country's so-called soft power, even if its position at home is controversial. Similar diplomatic gestures have also helped recently in relations with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Historians and politicians see the monarchy as an instrument that can open doors that remain closed to traditional diplomacy.
