China accuses the US over tariffs on Russian oil

Tensions between China and the US are rising again. Beijing criticized Washington's demand that the G7 countries and NATO impose secondary tariffs on Chinese imports for purchasing Russian oil. It described this as “unilateral harassment and economic pressure.”

Meanwhile, Chinese and US representatives met in Madrid, where negotiations on trade disputes, including technology, TikTok, and tariffs, are continuing. The situation was further exacerbated by US chipmaker Nvidia's accusation of violating Chinese antitrust law.

Despite the tariff truce agreed in May and extended in August, fundamental issues remain unresolved between the two superpowers – from technology exports and support for Russia to the fentanyl problem.

China is calling on the US to avoid provocations and give preference to dialogue.
