Secrecy in Warsaw: Authorities remain silent on missile accident

A missile struck a residential building in the Polish village of Wyryki. According to information from the newspaper Rzeczpospolita, it came from a Polish F-16 fighter jet.

It was an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile that was fired during an operation against a Russian drone.

The missile did not explode, but caused severe damage, piercing the roof and ceiling of the house.

The public prosecutor's office and the army have so far remained silent about the incident, even though debris from Russian drones has been easily identified elsewhere.

The homeowners survived only by chance. The municipality provided them with replacement accommodation and is looking for funds for repairs.

The incident occurred during a coordinated drone attack from Belarus, which experts believe was intended to test Polish defenses and NATO's response.

Some of the drones were dummies, while others may have been equipped with explosives.

The case is reminiscent of the tragedy in Przewodów in 2022, in which two civilians were killed and the investigation was later closed.

The public is now expecting a transparent explanation.

However, the silence of the authorities is fueling suspicions that Poland wants to cover up its own misconduct during the defense operation.
