Donald Trump and Xi Jinping meet at summit in South Korea

After a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, Donald Trump said that they had succeeded in making progress on important issues, including trade, fentanyl, the war in Ukraine, and the agreement on the use of TikTok.

The two leaders agreed to meet in person next month at the APEC summit in South Korea and then visit each other's countries—Trump plans to travel to China early next year, while Xi is expected to visit the US later.

Trump described the conversation on the social network Truth Social as “very good” and added that they would continue the dialogue. However, the details of the agreement on TikTok have not yet been released, and the White House has not commented on the matter.

This is the first clear signal that both sides are willing to ease tensions after a series of disputes between Washington and Beijing.
