Poland deploys aircraft after Russian attacks on Ukraine

Polish and allied aircraft were deployed early Saturday to ensure the security of Polish airspace after Russia launched air strikes on western Ukraine near the Polish border, the NATO member's armed forces said.

“Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on high alert,” the operational command said in a post on X.

At 03:40 GMT, almost all of Ukraine was under air alert after the Ukrainian Air Force warned of Russian missile and drone attacks.
