Israel: Recognition of Palestinian state “undermines” chances of resolving conflict
Israel said on Sunday that the recognition of the Palestinian state by the United Kingdom and other countries further destabilizes the region and “undermines” the chances of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
According to a statement by the Israeli Foreign Ministry published on Platform X, Israel will not accept any “separate or imaginary text” that would force it to accept untenable borders.
The United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada recently announced their official recognition of the Palestinian state, putting pressure on Israel to defuse the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and commit to the peace process.
The British Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that recognition of the State of Palestine should not lead to its immediate establishment, but should be part of a broader peace process.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials criticize these steps as rewarding Hamas and warn that such a “jihadist state” on Israel's border would pose a threat. The Palestinian side, on the other hand, sees this move as significant progress toward a two-state solution to the conflict.
