Israel has released footage showing Hamas firing from a hospital

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have released footage purportedly showing Hamas members firing from the grounds of Shifa Hospital in Gaza. According to the army, this is further evidence that Hamas systematically uses civilian infrastructure, including active hospitals, as cover for its operations, writes the daily newspaper Jerusalem Post.

In this way, Hamas is endangering the lives of patients and medical staff, according to the IDF. Israel emphasizes that it will continue the fight against terror while trying to minimize civilian casualties.

The Shifa Hospital has long been the subject of controversy – according to former hostage Emily Damari, she was taken there after her abduction on October 7, 2023.

In January 2024, the IDF discovered a 250-meter-long tunnel system under the hospital. The hospital's director, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, has been arrested several times on suspicion of collaborating with Hamas. In April 2024, Israeli soldiers killed about 200 militants and arrested hundreds more during an operation at the hospital.
