Lukashenko: Putin is preparing a peace proposal; Trump has already seen it in Alaska
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said after a meeting with Vladimir Putin on Friday that the Russian president would soon present a “very good proposal” to end the war in Ukraine, which he believes also has the tacit support of the US.
Lukashenko claims that the proposal was presented to Donald Trump during their meeting in Alaska and subsequently discussed in Washington.
He did not provide any details, but added that if Ukraine rejected the proposal, it would face an even worse scenario than at the beginning of the conflict.
Ukraine had previously described such conditions as unacceptable, particularly the demands for territorial concessions and renouncing NATO membership. At the same time, Lukashenko proposed tripartite talks between himself, Putin, and Zelensky as representatives of the “Slavic nations.”
Although Lukashenko has not intervened militarily in the conflict, he remains an important ally of Moscow. In recent weeks, however, he has spoken with Trump several times on the phone, and Belarus has released more than 50 political prisoners—a sign of a possible diplomatic opening toward the West.
