Zelensky: Ukraine will help Slovakia with energy – if it rejects Russian sources

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv is prepared to assist Slovakia and Hungary in supplying energy from alternative sources, provided that they refrain from using Russian oil and gas. This topic is also scheduled to be discussed at a joint meeting of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments in October.

According to Zelenskyy, he has agreed on this with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer). Kyiv wants to offer appropriate support, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.

Ukraine is prepared to propose concrete solutions, but only if Bratislava stops relying on Russian raw materials.

Regarding Budapest, Zelensky said that he has not yet seen any concrete steps or willingness to engage in dialogue.

In his speech to the UN General Assembly, US President Donald Trump once again demanded that Europe immediately stop purchasing energy from Russia, as he believes it is “financing the war against itself.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, on the other hand, warned that stopping Russian supplies would lead to an immediate four percent decline in economic output and seriously jeopardize the Hungarian economy.
