Germany has arrested members of Hamas who allegedly planned attacks

German police have arrested three members of Hamas in Berlin who allegedly planned armed attacks on German soil.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the trio was involved in procuring firearms and ammunition intended for attacks on Israeli or Jewish targets. During a raid on Wednesday, investigators also found a functional AK-47 assault rifle, several pistols, and a considerable amount of ammunition.

Those arrested are two German citizens—Abed Al G. and Ahmad I.—and a man born in Lebanon named Wael F. M.

This is another case following the trial in February of members of Hamas who were charged by German prosecutors with planning attacks on Jewish institutions in Europe. Prosecutors emphasize that these are unprecedented cases in the fight against Islamist terrorism in the country.
