Von der Leyen faces another no-confidence vote – vote on Thursday
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is facing another attempt to remove her from office—the second in the past three months.
This time, far-right and left-wing members of the European Parliament have joined forces against her. They accuse her of numerous failures, from a failed migration policy to inaction in connection with the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Although the motions are not expected to achieve the two-thirds majority required for her dismissal, observers see this as a warning signal.
Critics also point to the agreement with the US, which they consider unbalanced, and the planned agreement with Mercosur, which they believe jeopardizes farmers.
The vote is scheduled for Thursday. Von der Leyen will once again speak in her own defense.
