Russian attacks cut off water supply to two million Kiev residents
A Russian attack on Thursday night damaged infrastructure in Kiev. This temporarily interrupted the water supply for around two million residents of the capital. According to Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba, four thousand buildings were without water. Technicians are working to restore the supply.
At the same time, large parts of Kyiv were left without power. Nationwide, around 600,000 households were temporarily without electricity.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said Poland would provide Ukraine with generators, emergency power supplies, capacity at the Świnoujście LNG terminal, and accelerated expansion of power connections between the two countries.
The Polish oil company Orlen is continuing gas deliveries to Ukraine. Every month, 100 million cubic meters of gas flow into the country; this year, Poland has already exported 430 million cubic meters. The liquefied gas is imported from the United States to the terminal in Świnoujście and transported via Poland to Ukraine.
