The European Union will finance the tribunal to convict Putin

The European Union has initiated the financing of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian President Vladimir Putin and other high-ranking Russian officials for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. This was announced by EU Foreign Affairs Representative Kaja Kallas at a press conference in Kyiv together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Kallas also called on other countries and EU member states to contribute to the financing of the tribunal so that it can begin its work in full. “Without accountability, there can be no just and lasting peace,” she emphasized.

When asked about the American Tomahawk missiles that President Donald Trump recently mentioned as possible military aid for Ukraine, Kallas replied that the decision on whether Ukraine needs them for defense lies with Kyiv. “It is not our job to decide that,” she added.
