Sex education programs for LGBT individuals are also being discontinued as part of the shutdown.

As a result of the government shutdown, Donald Trump's administration has laid off thousands of US Department of Health and Human Services employees, including those working in family planning and healthcare for the LGBT community, reports Life Site News.

Adrian Shanker, a former advisor to the Biden administration, described these measures as ideological and directed against programs that promote “reproductive and queer health.”

The Office of Population Affairs, which was effectively shut down, provided sex education for LGBT youth and administered the Title X program, which funds contraception and often supports organizations such as Planned Parenthood.

President Trump openly admitted that the cuts primarily target programs supported by Democrats, which he believes do not have support among Republicans. The closure officially began on October 1 and will result in a massive reduction in the government apparatus.
