The United States is pushing for NATO – more weapons and investments for Kyiv
The United States has called on NATO allies to increase their investment in arms supplies for Ukraine. According to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, member states should become more involved in the Priority Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), which sets out the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian army.
Hegseth made this statement ahead of the NATO defense ministers' meeting in Brussels. He added that Washington expects not only an expansion of arms and equipment deliveries, but also a strengthening of the military capabilities and firepower of its allies.
In doing so, the US government is signaling that pressure is growing on collective responsibility within the alliance—especially in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The PURL initiative is a tool designed to ensure more efficient coordination of support and respond to Ukraine's dynamically changing defense needs.
