Ukraine negotiates with the US over Tomahawk missiles – Trump considers supplying them
During a visit to the US, a Ukrainian delegation led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko met with representatives of defense giants Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, which manufacture Tomahawk missiles and F-16 fighter jets.
According to the news portal Newsweek, Kiev has long been requesting the Tomahawks, as they would enable Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russian territory. Although Washington has not yet made a decision on a delivery, the Pentagon is said to have already prepared the relevant plans.
US President Donald Trump, who is trying to resume negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, did not rule out the possibility of supplying the missiles to Ukraine – which Moscow described as an “escalation” of the conflict.
Kiev is convinced that Raytheon and Lockheed's technologies will strengthen its defensive and offensive capabilities. According to the president's adviser, Andriy Yermak, “every Russian missile shot down proves the quality of American weapons.”
Sources at the Pentagon indicate that the final decision will be discussed during the upcoming meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump in Washington.
