FT: Trump and Zelensky agree to freeze the front line as part of a peaceful solution to the war

During a meeting at the White House on Friday, US President Donald Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to accept Russia's conditions for ending the war. Trump is said to have warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin had threatened to “destroy” Ukraine if Kiev did not agree to the deal. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing people familiar with the negotiations.

According to the British daily's sources, Trump insisted that Ukraine cede the entire territory of eastern Donbass to Russia, similar to what President Vladimir Putin had suggested to him in a phone call.

Ultimately, however, Zelensky managed to convince Trump to support the proposal to freeze the current front line. After the meeting, Trump stated that the conflict should end at the current front line, which Zelensky described as an important point.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Financial Times report. Zelensky's spokesman also did not comment on the matter outside of working hours.
