Kiev once again targeted by air strikes, Russia speaks of retaliation for attacks on civilian targets

Russian drones attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv for the second night in a row, injuring four people, Ukrainian authorities said Thursday morning. Among the damaged buildings is a kindergarten. Residents were warned of a possible missile attack.

On Wednesday, the whole of Ukraine was subjected to massive drone and missile attacks, killing six people, including two children. Energy facilities were hit, leading to widespread power outages.

The energy minister described the attacks as part of Russia's strategy to systematically destroy energy infrastructure before winter. Russia said the attacks were in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian targets.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia fired 405 drones and 28 missiles. 333 drones and 16 missiles were shot down.

Fires broke out in several districts of Kyiv, emergency services were called in, and dozens of people had to be evacuated. Ukraine once again set up so-called “points of invincibility” for residents without electricity, heating, and water.
