Germany reportedly plans to increase aid to Ukraine by three billion euros

Germany plans to increase financial support for Ukraine by around three billion euros next year, a government source reported on Tuesday, confirming a report in the Handelsblatt newspaper.

The 2026 budget originally allocated 8.5 billion euros for Ukraine, including military support in the war against Russia.

According to the government source, the Defense Ministry will present the proposal during the final budget deliberations in parliament next week, when adjustments are still possible.

The source added that Chancellor Friedrich Merz supports the plans and they are expected to be approved.
