Germany to increase aid to Ukraine to €11.5 billion in 2026
In the 2026 budget, Germany plans to increase financial aid to Ukraine from the originally planned 8.5 to 11.5 billion euros.
According to Berlin, Germany is Europe's largest provider of military support to Ukraine. Since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022, some EUR 40 billion has gone towards helping the country.
The increase in support is intended to strengthen Ukraine's defences in the long term. This follows from documents obtained by Reuters on Monday.
Since 2022, Ukraine has received aid totaling more than $250 billion, most of it from the United States and the European Union.
