Daughter of ex-president of South Africa sent Africans to fight for Russia

Duduzile Zuma, the daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma and a current MP, is facing allegations that she was involved in the recruitment of African men into the Russian army fighting in Ukraine.

As Bloomberg reports, according to relatives' accounts and WhatsAppe messages, she lured them under the pretext of training bodyguards in her father's party. In reality, they signed contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry and found themselves on the front lines. Their contact with their families was subsequently cut off.

Zuma assured the parents of the conscripts that this was not a combat deployment and promised to check into the situation. The South African government announced that 17 of its citizens were in the Donbas and ordered an investigation as serving in foreign armed forces is a criminal offence in the country.

Duduzile Zuma has previously actively supported Russian President Vladimir Putin on social media. At the same time, Russia has been luring African women to work in drone factories in the Alabuga SEZ through BRICS structures.
