French minister convenes European partners for talks on Ukraine

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot held a telephone conference with his European counterparts on Friday evening to discuss the situation in Ukraine. A French diplomatic official told Reuters.

According to the source, the discussion took place in the so-called Washington format, which refers to a meeting at the level of the main leaders, organized earlier this year in the US capital. The foreign ministers of Germany, Poland, Britain, Finland, Italy and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy were due to attend.

The aim of the meeting is to coordinate further joint action on peace efforts for Ukraine. Details of the content and specific conclusions of the meeting have not yet been made public, according to the French source.
