Dmitriev: US plan to save Ukraine, but Zelensky rejected it
Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev said on Friday that the U.S. plan to end the war in Ukraine is aimed at preventing further deaths of Ukrainians and loss of territory.
Several sources told Reuters and other media that the plan to end the war was the result of unofficial talks between Dmitriev and Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy.
The plan includes conditions that Kiev rejects - mainly territorial concessions and a reduction of the army. Ukraine's President Zelensky has called it a threat to both national dignity and American support.
Dmitriyev, via social media, criticized opponents of the peace proposal, saying they were profiting from prolonging the war.
