Von der Leyen: Ukraine's borders must not be changed by force

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed that Ukraine's borders cannot be changed by force and the West should not push to limit its military.

The statement came during talks in Geneva, where diplomats from the US, EU and Ukraine discussed a draft US peace plan.

Von der Leyen stressed three key points: Ukraine's territorial integrity, full military sovereignty and the EU's crucial role in any peace deal. She stressed that any peace must not only be just but also sustainable, without the risk of future conflicts.

In her view, Ukraine has chosen the European path and has the right to decide its own fate.
