Ukraine hits oil refinery and oil terminal

The Ukrainian military said on Tuesday it had hit a Russian oil refinery in the Krasnodar region and an oil terminal at the port of Novorossiysk. It is the latest in a series of strikes on Russia's strategic energy infrastructure as it approaches its fourth year of war.

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian army, the attacks hit facilities designed for loading and unloading oil onto tankers. At the same time, Kiev said it also damaged a Russian A-60 reconnaissance aircraft system during the strike on the Beriev military plant.

In recent months, Ukraine has stepped up attacks on targets deep in Russian territory, particularly oil facilities that Moscow has struggled to protect. The aim is to limit the financial resources of Russia's war industry and disrupt its logistics.

An official from Ukraine's SBU security service said the attack also damaged a large landing ship docked at the pier of a naval base in Novorossiysk. Russian authorities did not immediately comment on the damage.
