Driscoll warned Ukraine of possible defeat if the war continues
U.S. Department of Defense Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll brought a 28-point peace proposal to Ukrainian officials during a visit to Kiev and openly warned of imminent military defeat.
According to NBC News, Driscoll stressed that Ukrainian troops could face "imminent defeat" if the war drags on. According to him, Russian forces are escalating their intensity and airstrikes and have the ability to wage a long-term fight.
Moreover, the United States has admitted that it cannot deliver enough weapons, especially air defence missiles, soon enough to protect Ukrainian infrastructure and civilians.
At the same time, in the background, the Russians offered their peace proposal to President Trump's U.S. team for the United States to present as its initiative, according to Bloomberg. Kiev and Washington still disagree in particular on the terms regarding the Donbas - in fact, the proposal envisages handing over part of the territory without a fight, which Ukraine rejects.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, Trump is reportedly signalling a willingness to negotiate at the highest level.
