A 27-year-old man from the Czech Republic died in fighting in Ukraine

Jirka Kotrla, 27, who used to study at the art and industrial school in Uherské Hradiště, lost his life on the Ukrainian front line.

The sad news was posted on the social network, without giving the exact date or place of death, the Novinky portal reports.

"Last week we were hit by sad news. In the war on the Ukrainian front near Izjuma, our former student of the stone-sculpture department, Jirka Kotrla, was killed. We honor his memory," the school said on Facebook.

The Czech Foreign Ministry confirmed that it was aware of the case, but did not provide details out of respect for the family.

The young man was among several Czech citizens who lost their lives fighting Russian aggression.
