Lavrov: Europe has excluded itself from peace talks on Ukraine

European countries have deprived themselves of participation in the peace negotiations on Ukraine by failing to implement earlier agreements on the settlement of the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this in an interview with a Russian state television journalist.

"Europe failed to comply with the original agreement of February 2014 and did nothing when the oppositionists took over all the government buildings the day after the signing. It failed in the same way with the Minsk agreements," Lavrov said.

He added that according to Moscow, Europe also failed in 2022, when negotiations in Istanbul broke down, allegedly at the request of then-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. "It was practically not even opened," he added, referring to European participation in possible future talks.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously said that Russia is currently negotiating only with the United States on the Ukrainian settlement.
