Zelensky: 20-point peace plan with US, guarantees and territories key

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed cautious optimism about peace talks, thanks in large part to US interest in a diplomatic solution.

During a visit to Dublin, he acknowledged concerns that Washington might lose interest, which he said is Russia's goal. He also confirmed that he had held talks with US emissary Steve Witkoff the day before, and as long as Ukraine senses a real and concrete dialogue, it is ready for further contacts.

The revised peace plan with the US now contains 20 points instead of the original 28. Kiev is waiting for the results of the US-Russian negotiations, which will influence the way forward.

The most sensitive issues, according to Zelensky, include the question of occupied territories, the use of frozen Russian assets (to be decided by Europe), and security guarantees from the US, EU and other partners in the so-called "coalition of the willing".
