Poll: Ukrainians want their own nuclear weapons, trust in NATO has plummeted
Support for the development of Ukraine's own nuclear weapons is growing significantly - 31.1 per cent of the population considers it the best security guarantee. According to the Yvropeyska Pravda portal, this follows from a survey by the Info Sapiens agency, according to which Ukrainians are increasingly losing confidence in international guarantees. The survey was conducted in November 2025 on a sample of 1,000 respondents.
Confidence in NATO membership has dropped to 19.4 percnet from 29.3 per cent last year, but support for the presence of European troops directly on the country's territory is growing.
At the same time, Ukrainians continue to reject negotiations with Russia without security guarantees from the West, a position held by 64.9 percent of respondents. Other alternatives, such as a nuclear umbrella from another state or a defence alliance with the US, have only marginal support.
Observers say the growing call for nuclear weapons indicates public frustration with the West's unwillingness to provide concrete security guarantees while the United States insists on a peace deal.
