Russia says it has evidence of Ukraine attack on Putin's residence

Russia says it has evidence of an attempt by Ukraine to attack President Vladimir Putin's residence. According to the Russian defence ministry, the downed Ukrainian drone was equipped with navigational data pointing towards the president's villa in the Novgorod region.

The Kremlin announced that it would hand over this evidence to the United States. Kiev has denied the accusations, claiming it is a Russian disinformation campaign. Western officials also doubt that Ukraine is targeting Putin.

The Wall Street Journal quoted U.S. security officials as saying the president's residence was not the target.

U.S. President Donald Trump was initially sympathetic to the Russian claims, but later published an op-ed criticizing Moscow for obstructing peace talks.

At the same time, Ukraine is suggesting that the Russian claims are intended to damage its relations with the US, just days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting with Trump.
