German CSU calls for Syrians and Ukrainians to leave the country
According to Spiegel magazine, the Christian Social Union (CSU) has put forward a proposal to significantly tighten migration policy in Germany. At an upcoming meeting of the parliamentary group in Seeon, Bavaria, politicians are due to adopt a resolution which, among other things, calls for a large-scale deportation offensive in 2026.
This would include regular flights to Syria and Afghanistan. According to the party, the civil war in Syria is over, the country is being rebuilt and most Syrians who have received temporary protection in Germany no longer have grounds for staying.
At the same time, the CSU is demanding that refugees who visit their home country should automatically lose their protected status. The party is also proposing a tougher approach to Ukrainian refugees, especially to combatant men, who it believes should contribute to the defence of the homeland.
Another proposal is the use of asylum seekers' assets to cover their costs in Germany. The party thus wants to prevent abuse of the welfare system, as it is calling for the definition of 'employee' in the European Union directive to be modified so that the right to free movement does not allow access to benefits with a minimum level of work activity.
Alexander Hoffmann, chairman of the parliamentary group, speaks of the need to stop organised fraud and mafia-controlled migration flows.
