Former Canadian deputy prime minister to strengthen Zelensky's team
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recruited another well-known personality to his team - former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland. She will serve as an economic development advisor.
The President of Ukraine stressed that the country needs to strengthen its economic resilience, regardless of whether the war is ended diplomatically or prolonged due to the hesitation of the Western allies.
Freeland, who is of Ukrainian descent, held Canada's second-highest executive post from 2019 to 2024. In addition to her seat in the Canadian Parliament, she currently serves as Ottawa's special envoy to Ukraine.
Zelensky believes her investment experience will help Ukraine through a challenging period of both reconstruction and defence.
